For The Record

The Black Dragon Fighting Society officially recognizes the following unbroken records

of Frank Dux and cites the evidence to validate that recognition.

First and only martial artist to break bullet proof glass barehanded.

Video evidence: Follow this link to view the 1993 Bercy Stadium Performance

1. A man is shown firing a 9 mm pistol round, which is shown before being loaded, at a sheet of bulletproof glass target on an indoor target range.

2. The target is brought forward and the impact site of the projectile, in the upper right hand quadrant of the glass, not in the center where it will be struck, is indicated and signed by the official with a white pen to confirm its authenticity. The fact that the bullet from the pistol cartridge DID NOT penetrate the glass is the definition of "bulletproof."

3. This same marked glass is shown on stage mounted in an angle iron frame, in a stadium in Bercy, France

4. Frank Dux prepares and strikes the glass in the center.

5. The first time, the glass does not break, but the iron frame buckles and bends under the impact.

6. The second strike breaks the demonstrably proven bulletproof glass.

7. After the break, the pieces are distributed to the international press who also authenticate it.

8. This constitutes indisputable visual proof that would stand up in a court of law.

9. We are unaware of any other person even attempting this feat.

Due to unfair contractual arrangements barring any mention of Dux by his business competitors, not a single mention appears in the Martial Arts trade magazines in his home country, the USA. https://officialfrankdux.com/warrior-magazin-de/frank-dux-the-warrior-secure-page-038/

Mexico's prestigious university, Technologico De Monterey, conducted experiments in early 2009 attempting to quantify, confirm or deny the existence of intrinsic AKA Chi energy by employing thermographic photography. "The first step," says Michael Bano Garcia, "was aimed at identifying whether or not a relationship between Ki (AKA Chi) and infrared radiation exists. Our experiment documents that unlike other test control subjects, some of which are Chi Kung masters, Frank Dux possesses the very unique ability of creating, collapsing, and concentrating his energy. He is the ONLY test subject who could do this."

Bottle Break (Vertical Palm Heel) and Double Bottle Break (Roundhouse Kick)

Video Evidence: Jim Beam Bottle Break and Double Champagne Bottle Break

1. A square bottle of Jim Beam Whiskey sits on the center of the table.

2. Frank Dux strikes downward on the top of the bottle with a Vertical Palm Heel Strike.

3. The bottle shatters.

4. Next Scene

5. Two men are seen wearing protective gear, each holding a Champagne Bottle at arm's length in front of their chests. One kneeling one standing.

6. After measuring the distance, Frank Dux strikes both bottles with a single kick, shattering both of them.

7. As he leaves the presentation area, he snaps his right foot downward to remove a shard of glass he had stepped on after the break.

Master of the Tibetan Burning Palm

Video Evidence: Bottom Brick Break

1. Frank Dux appears on a morning TV talk show to demonstrate the Bottom Brick Break.

2. He sets the the concrete slabs with fragile tiles between.

3. And, explains that this is a method of transmitting energy into the oppponent's body, leaving no mark on the skin.

4. This is the Tibetan Burning Palm technique taught to Frank Dux by Black Dragon Fighting Society Grandmaster Lawrence Day at the behest of Sensei Senzo Tanaka, a comtemporary of Count Dante. Together they founded the American Chapter of the BDFS in 1960's Chicago IL. In the movie Bloodsport, "inspired by real events in the life of Frank Dux," the Tanaka character teaches Dux directly. This is called "dramatic license." It is not a lie, it is an embellishment for the continuity of the story.

5. Frank Dux measures the target and strikes with a Hammer Fist Blow, breaking the bottom brick while leaving the upper and the two tiles intact.

1975 – Fastest recorded kick resulting in a knockout – 72 MPH

1975 – Shortest knockout time average for fight career – 1:20 sec

Video Evidence: 4 minutes/45 seconds into the Critique Video

1. Fastest knockout with a kick.

2. There is black and white footage at a tournament of Frank Dux executing a spinning back hook kick that lands on the right side of his much taller opponent’s jaw, less than a second after the signal to begin is given by the referee.

3. The opponent staggers to his left, stumbles, falls and cannot regain his footing for more than 10 seconds.

4. That is a knockout!

5. Some will say that it is not a young Frank Dux who performs this kick, merely someone who looks like him; nor does it occur at the Kumite as depicted in the movie Bloodsport.

6. However, those same people refuse to accept Frank Dux statement that many of the lies attributed to him were made by doubles acting in his stead or impersonating him. There have been several occasions when Frank Dux has been introduced to himself or met people who claim to have trained with him.

7. Can’t have it both ways. That is illogical.

8. Either the fighter in the black and white footage is NOT Frank Dux but rather a “double,” then is at least possible that at least some of the doubles he claims were real. If one person can be mistaken for him or impersonate him, then so can others.

9. Or, the fighter in the black and white footage IS a young Frank Dux and all the doubles he claimed were fake as well because no one looks enough like him to be mistaken for him or impersonate him.

10. There are still photographs of Frank Dux at that age that do closely resemble the fighter in the black and white footage. There are side-by-side photos of Frank Dux and John Claude van Damme, who was selcted to portray him in the movie despite a thick Belgian accent, partly because they looked so much alike.

11. No one ever said that the record was set at the Kumite, dramatic license. The record stands.

Critique

Video Critique: Critique

Despite the visual proof of Frank Dux ability to break things with his bare hands, a skill known to martial artists as a demonstration and test of their striking power without having to actually injure someone, there remain skeptics. So that the Black Dragon Fighting Society is not required to address the criticisms at a later date, we present here some of the online criticisms and refute them.

1. The speaker begins by saying how much he likes Frank Dux and how he was inspired by him.

2. He refers to the Bottom Brick Break and says that "This is not magic, it is something that can be learned." And brags that he also breaks boards and bricks and enjoys it. So, apparently he validates that technique by implying that he can do it himself. However, he does not demonstrate it or refer to any other link where he can be seen performing it. He does state that you can go on YouTube and see Frank Dux performing this break on TV. So, IF there were video of him using the Tibetan Burning Palm to break the bottom brick, you would think he would tell you about it.

3. The speaker then indicates he is skeptical of the Bulletproof Glass Break but will discuss that later.

4. He then disparages Frank Dux martial arts as demonstrated as "conceptual" rather than effective and bemoans the lack of variety in what he has seen. Ending by saying, "That we don't know if he was a good fighter or not."

5. The speaker then presents some old black and white film footage that he says is supposed to be Frank Dux and that this is supposed to be of the Kumite. In that video clip, at 4 minutes 45 seconds, there is a scene of the smaller fighter, Frank Dux, executing a spin back hook kick that strikes his much larger opponent on the right side of the face, knocking him down and out. This is the basis for the Black Dragon Fighting Society recognizing Frank Dux records for 1975 – Fastest recorded kick resulting in a knockout – 72 mph and 1975 – Shortest knockout time average for fight career – 1:20 seconds.

6. No one ever said this record was set at a Kumite in China that was not filmed. That is merely dramatic license of a professional screenwriter.

7. Next, the speaker shows the Bottle Breaks and says that they "don't break like real bottles." They break like "sugar glass" used by stuntmen in the movies. What makes him such an expert on how glass breaks?

8. There was another critic who claimed he had a friend who could "break beer bottles off at the neck" (like Mr. Miyagi in Karate Kid) and THAT was "real." But he didn't believe the bottles were broken legitimately because they shattered instead of merely having their heads chopped off. Once again, the glass is broken, just because it isn't broken the way you expect, does not mean it isn't broken. Being shattered IS being broken!

9. So, to those who claim the champagne bottles were “gimmicked” like in Hollywood with “candy glass” that breaks easily.

  a) First, this is just psychological denial because there is no way to prove this accusation because the evidence is long since gone. It is only made in desperation to dispute the obvious visual evidence.

   b) Second, “candy glass” doesn’t cut your foot. 40,000 people attended the Martial Arts Expo at Bercy Stadium in 1993 and saw it.

  c) Third, when he demonstrates the "candy glass bottle to the head to show how easily it breaks," the "candy glass" does not shatter, it breaks into pieces. Which the demonstrators then eat to prove it is fake. BUT, it didn't shatter, proving that the speaker is no expert of how things are supposed to break, and it didn't cut them like it did Frank Dux' foot. So, that argument is simply false.

10. Then he goes into the Bulletproof Glass Break.

11. The first thing you will notice is that he has a very specific definition of bulletproof glass that must be adhered to strictly by all humanity. According to HIM, it must be multi-layered. What makes him such an expert? To impose such a restriction?

12. The second thing you will observe is that ALL of the bulletproof glass he tests is much thicker than the pane broken by Frank Dux. Therefore, none of the demonstrations he presents as "proof" of his assertion are valid. AND, members of the International Press verified the broken pieces which they were given as proof.

12.THAT pane was shot with a 9 mm bullet that did not penetrate the glass. By definition, it is "bullet proof." No one ever said it was impervious to every caliber on the planet. There are multiple grades of bullet-proof glass, just as there are multiple levels of bulletproof vest protection.

Kumite Heavyweight Champion 1975-1980

Frank Dux did participate in the Kumite in 1975 after the untimely passing of Count Dante, who was scheduled to represent the American Chapter that year. And, he was the first American to win the Championship and held it undefeated for five years. There have been some critics who have asked, "If the Kumite really happened, and if they only invited the best fighters to attend, why weren't well known, highly respected professional fighters like Joe Lewis, or Don Wilson, or wrestlers or boxers?

Because, at that time, the Chinese mainland was still closed, Americans were forbidden by the State Department from travelling there. But, more importantly the Black Dragon Fighting Society was still listed on the FBI records as a subversive organization, steming from their activities on behalf of the Japanese government during WWII. The membership was very exclusive, a closely guarded secret, and these men, as great as they are, were not members of the Society.
