Reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique where practitioners use gentle touch or hovering hands to promote deep relaxation and reduce stress.
“Reiki” splits into two characters. Rei — spirit, or sacred, or mysterious, depending on which translator you ask. Ki — the same life-force concept that shows up as qi in Chinese medicine and prana in yogic tradition. Put together: something close to “spiritually guided life-force energy.” No English phrase nails it perfectly.
