The Order of the Bat'leth is an exclusive Klingon group, a status awarded to warriors who had distinguished themselves in battle. It is considered one of the highest honors a Klingon could receive, with perhaps only the Order of Kahless outranking it in prestige. Every year, the Chancellor of the High Council would induct new members into the Order in a ceremony at the Hall of Warriors on Ty’Gokor. Drunken celebrations were held for a full day before the induction itself, which was part of the ceremony as an endurance test.

Although these techniques evolved on an alien planet in an entirely warlike culture, they are nonetheless similar in many way to the sword and spear techniques of ancient Earth. Many believe these simple methods are based on universal constants and racial genetic memory to form the foundation of later Jedi swordsmanship.

The Order of the Bat'leth is an ancient organization within Klingon society that honors the Empire's greatest warriors. It was founded by Lady Lukara, the widow of Kahless the Unforgettable, who wished that her husband's vision of honor be maintained and upheld.
